Martin Dimery in a Facebook post wrote: "We, in the Green Party, have to campaign harder than any of the others to make our voice heard. Our campaigns are funded by members, not oligarchs or businesses, and our publicity is targeted towards the concerns of our local communities, not generically produced and sent through the post.

"We start our new term on Somerset from tomorrow and we will make sure those who elected us are properly represented.

"Thank you to everyone who voted for us."
